For the first time in the program’s nearly 90-year history, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has granted a waiver for state-level product restrictions within the SNAP program.
The House Committee on Agriculture advanced its budget bill that includes major changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) − and the stakes are clear and very high. There is a way to keep SNAP strong without making deep cuts.
