Many consumers are planning to hand out Halloween candy and based on FMI's U.S. Grocery Shopper Trends, 34% of families with kids indicate they will buy more candy this year. Why not amp up your treating skills by adding inclusivity to your bowl? The Teal Pumpkin Project, sponsored by Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), is a movement aimed at providing candy alternatives for children that suffer from food allergies. In addition to, or instead of, handing out candy, shoppers can try alternatives such as toys or stickers that are allergen-free but fun-filled. Be sure to keep them in a separate bowl from candy and place a teal pumpkin near your front door to signal your involvement.
