Day in Washington

Next week, the food retail industry’s annual Day in Washington fly-in will attract hundreds of grocery executives to Capitol Hill. Led by FMI, the National Grocers Association and the Food Industry Association Executives, fly-in participants will meet with their congressional representatives to highlight industry priorities and educate lawmakers on how policy decisions could affect their businesses.

This year, Day in Washington attendees can use the new FMI Advocacy app available for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices to access talking points, track meetings, find directions on Capitol Hill and share their DC experience. Search for “FMI Advocacy” in your app store to download.

The 2015 Day in Washington will cover several priority industry issues, including:

  • Health care reform
  • Data security
  • Tax policy
  • Menu labeling
  • Swipe fees
  • Labor policy

Every industry and business is unique, which is why it is so important that food retailers share their stories with lawmakers to identify areas where our industry can find solutions and common ground, regardless of political ideology.
