Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) toured a ShopRite store in his New Jersey district this week, during which he was shown the complexities of implementing menu labeling requirements, among other issues.

As elected officials return to their hometowns during the August recess, it is a great opportunity to invite your members of Congress to tour your stores and distribution centers. Take a photo with your lawmakers and share it with FMI, and we’ll enter you into FMI’s government relations photo contest.

Whether giving your elected officials a demonstration of food safety procedures for the deli case or showing how your fruit displays must align with country or origin labeling regulations – connecting your representatives with your employees, customers and products provides direct examples of how regulations and policy decisions and affect the operations of your food retail businesses.

Send us a photo with your member of Congress engaging at your store, and we will send the store manager a flag that has been flown over the U.S. Capitol as an added incentive for supporting our public policy education efforts. If the photo includes a CEO, he or she will be entered into our contest for a complimentary 2016 Midwinter registration (a $1,000+ value).

Send your photo submissions to Laura Piccioli, and please let us know if you need assistance in gathering contact information for your lawmakers or additional information to help facilitate the store visit.
