Food Retailing Industry Speaks 2014

For 64 years, FMI has been surveying the food retail community about issues and areas that impact our 1,225 members and 40,000 stores. FMI’s Food Retailing Industry Speaks (Speaks) provides our food retail members with important operational and financial benchmarks available nowhere else.

The foundation of this research depends on food retailers answering quick surveys about their operations. Here are five reasons you should take the Speaks surveys:

  1. Speaks Has The AnswerSpeaks research helps answer questions like: What is the average number of years between store remodels? What is the average number of weeks to build a new grocery store? What capabilities are featured on grocery shopping apps?
  2. Support The Voice of Food RetailIn order for FMI to be the voice of food retail, we need member input to benchmark supermarket operations.
  3. It’s TraditionIt’s amazing that for 64 years food retailers have volunteered information that offers a unified voice to guide trends within the grocery industry.
  4. Confidentiality MaintainedFMI will not use information derived from questionnaire data for any other purpose than the development of the Food Retailing Industry Speaks 2014. FMI maintains complete confidentiality of individual company information, and its results will only be reported collectively; the study does not highlight individual company data.
  5. It’s QuickSurveys take between 5 – 15 minutes to complete.
