Each year, FMI releases 40+ research and insights reports. Let’s say each report averages 50 pages—that would be at least 2,000 pages. If I’m looking for a specific fact or figure to inform my work, that’s a lot of pages to go through, and Logo with search iconoften keyword searches don’t cut it. In addition, FMI shares many stories and thought leadership about our research and insights, as well as blog posts and webinars. This all makes for a treasure trove of data, stats, trends and insights that our members find incredibly valuable. But what if we could help the food industry dive deeper into this treasure, find some rubies and maybe speed up the path to insights?

Over the past year, FMI has been building a generative AI research assistant called FMIResearch.ai. This member-only AI assistant for the food industry has access to a library of FMI research to support your business strategy across every aisle of the store. Users can dive deeper into FMI’s research and insights portfolio, then download source reports to gain further knowledge.

FMIResearch.ai can answer general prompts or questions about FMI’s research and insights reports, including consumer survey data and food industry benchmarking data. Here are some prompt/question examples:

  • What is the current average weekly grocery spend per household?
  • What are the current trends in private label branding within the food industry?
  • How is produce being used in the foodservice/deli department?
  • What is shrink and what is the current shrink rate for the food industry?
  • What are food retailers doing to attract and retain employees?
  • What are trends in grocery?

Will this assistant speed up your reading? Probably not, but FMIResearch.ai is a resource for you as you develop business strategies grounded in data and designed to support strong customer experiences for the future.
