Origins:
Stop & Shop Nutrition Partners is Stop & Shop’s team of registered dietitians, providing free, easy-to-understand nutrition education to customers and the communities we serve. Through one-on-one consultations, educational webinars, healthy cooking demonstrations and community outreach, the program helps make healthy eating more practical, affordable, and accessible. One of our primary services is a weekly virtual webinar series, delivered live on Zoom and available to customers across Stop & Shop’s five-state footprint of Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Led by registered dietitians, these webinars translate evidence-based nutrition guidance into realistic strategies customers can use while shopping, meal planning, and preparing meals at home. Topics focus on everyday needs such as eating well on a budget, choosing products that support specific health goals, and building balanced meals. With support across internal teams, the program has expanded significantly in recent years through increased promotion and customer engagement. Through this virtual service, Stop & Shop has extended its role beyond a grocery retailer to become a trusted neighborhood resource for nutrition education and wellness.
Contribution:
Stop & Shop serves communities across a five-state footprint, including neighborhoods facing higher rates of food insecurity and nutrition-related chronic disease. Access to affordable, credible nutrition education can be limited, making this program an important community resource. Company-wide support has been essential to the webinar series’ growth. Our registered dietitians lead the classes each week, while corporate marketing teams promote them through email, circular, and in-store advertisements. Our loyalty team also supports participation by awarding Stop & Shop loyalty points, GO PointsTM, to customers who attend, helping encourage healthy habits. Community response has been strong. In the first half of 2026, the webinar series averaged 678 attendees per class, demonstrating meaningful and growing engagement across the neighborhoods we serve. This combination of professional expertise, corporate support, and customer participation has helped scale the program into an accessible and trusted source of nutrition education.
Objectives:
Earlier this year, Stop & Shop Nutrition Partners launched a new internal nutrition education framework built around three pillars: showcase value, teach nutrition fundamentals, and celebrate seasonal moments. Our focus on value helps customers see that eating well can also be affordable by highlighting budget-friendly products, meal solutions, and value programs such as Stop & Shop’s Meal Deal. Our focus on nutrition fundamentals offers practical guidance for everyday wellness and chronic disease management, providing personalized guidance that connects clinical nutrition recommendations with everyday shopping decisions. Our focus on seasonal moments celebrates the joy of food by highlighting seasonal produce, holidays, and timely wellness topics that make healthy eating engaging and relevant. Together, these objectives ensure our webinars do more than share information. They give customers practical tools to shop smarter, stretch their budgets, enjoy seasonal foods, and make choices that support long-term health.
Impact:
Stop & Shop Nutrition Partners’ virtual webinar series has become a high-impact nutrition education service serving customers across our five-state footprint. In the first half of 2026, the Nutrition Partners delivered 23 webinars reaching 15,601 attendees, with an average of 678 attendees per class. Participation has grown year over year, with several of our highest-attended classes occurring during the first half of 2026. The program’s success is driven by its accessibility and relevance. Webinars are free, virtual, and led by registered dietitians, removing common barriers such as cost, travel, and limited access to credible nutrition education. The content is highly practical, helping participants apply nutrition guidance directly to grocery shopping and meal planning. Program impact is also reflected in participant feedback. 96% percent of attendees reported learning something new, and 96% said they would recommend the service to others, demonstrating both educational value and strong customer satisfaction. By combining expert-led education, broad accessibility, and direct relevance to everyday shopping decisions, the webinar series has grown into a scalable community health resource that helps make healthy eating easier for our customers and the communities we serve.
Quote:
"As a neighborhood grocer, we have a responsibility to support the health and well-being of the communities we serve beyond the walls of our stores. Our Nutrition Partners bring expert nutrition guidance directly to thousands of customers each year, making healthy eating more practical, affordable, and achievable. We are proud of the impact this program is making and remain committed to helping our neighbors live healthier lives." Roger Wheeler, Stop & Shop President
