Origins:

Josey Chandler of Chandler's Supervalu has been working with the local Food Banks (Broken Wings Ministries Inc) to assist with their weekly donations to assist families in need in the communities that they service with their customers. Their Ackerman and Eupora stores are able to donate close dated product each week to Broken Wings Ministries. Josey is also partnering with Broken Wings for their upcoming turkey donations by assisting with store raffles and giveaways.

Contribution:

This has been a new project for the Chandler Organization and they have committed to assisting the Broken Wings Ministry. Broken Wings will be giving away 400 turkeys this year and Josey has committed to doing an in-store raffle with prize giveaways to assist with raising the funds to support the turkeys. This event is planned for October and will be featured in their weekly ads and Facebook promotions.

Objectives:

Causes: Children & Youth, Youth Development Programs - Broken Wings Ministry Mission: The purpose of broken wings ministries, inc. Shall be:

  • To provide a christian environment where people in need are equipped with life and employment skills through a mission context in which people help people.
  • The purposes for which broken wings ministries, inc. Is organized are exclusively charitable, scientific, literary, and educational within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code of 1986 or the corresponding provision of any future united states internal revenue law.
  • Notwithstanding any other provision of these articles, this organization shall not carry on any activities not permitted to be carried on by an organization exempt from federal income tax under section 501(3)(c) of the internal revenue code of 1986 or the corresponding provision of any future united states internal revenue law.
  • No part of the activities of the corporation shall be carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, or participating in, or inter Programs: Emergency assistance - we provide emergency financial assistance to individuals and families in the form of bill payment. This program will provide assistance for paying utility bills, medical bills, etc. Assistance is provided on a case-by-case basis. Individuals and families that use this service are required to attend financial planning training provided by broken wings ministries.

Impact:

This is a new program for the Chandler organization, so impact cannot be determined at this time. The weekly donation of food has enabled the Food Bank reach more homes each week.
