In August 2023, FMI and the Feedback Group with store operations consultant Harold Lloyd fielded a comprehensive survey of the food retail industry to assess the current state and perceptions of the roles of store managers and department managers. With nearly 4,000 responses from 94 retailers this follow up to similar studies in 2014 and 2016 yielded some intriguing and enlightening results.
