David J. Hepfinger Elected to FMI Board

ARLINGTON, VA — May 5, 2009 — Food Marketing Institute (FMI) announced today the election of David J. Hepfinger, president and CEO of Weis Markets, Inc., to the FMI Board of Directors.

     Hepfinger started his food retailing career as a night dairy clerk while in high school. Prior to joining Weis Markets, he spent 32 years at Price Chopper working as a department head, store manager, district manager, vice president of merchandising, vice president of retailing operations and regional vice president before being named senior vice president of retailing and administration.

     In his current position, Hepfinger oversees all aspects of Weis Market operations and management.

     Weis Markets operates 154 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia. Weis Markets also owns SuperPetz, a pet supply store superstore chain with 28 locations in nine states.

     Hepfinger holds an MBA from Rennsselaer Polytechnic Institute.
