ARLINGTON, VA – Today, FMI – The Food Industry Association President and CEO Leslie G. Sarasin issued the following statement announcing the association’s support of the White House initiative to expand registered apprenticeship programs for truck drivers to help alleviate supply chain pressures.

“FMI is proud to serve as a cosponsor of the National Program Standard for trucking apprenticeships to bolster our industry's efforts to hire and train the next generation of trucking professionals. Workforce shortages continue to hamper our food retailers, wholesalers, and product suppliers, which makes for an ongoing challenge in delivering critical food and goods to American consumers. FMI appreciates the opportunity to serve as a liaison between our members and the Administration and FASTPORT to open additional avenues, such as the Drive Safe pilot program, to attract new food industry professionals.”
