USDA FNS has approved waiver requests for all states that have asked to waive select statutory and regulatory requirements. Many of these approved waivers allow for certain food package substitutions as they are consistent with the nutritional basis of the foods normally provided within the food package and justified based upon low stock as a result of increased customer demand during COVID-19. Originally approved through May 31, 2020, USDA FNS has extended all waiver approvals through June 30, 2020. This is for all WIC State agencies that choose to continue operations under their approved waivers. USDA will continue to monitor the public health emergency and will consider subsequent extensions of waiver approvals. Read the extension here.
