Robert Rosado joined FMI as Director of Government Relations in March 2011.  Rosado handles federal efforts related to health care, food safety, nutrition, farm bill and agriculture policy.  He represents FMI as an Executive Committee member of the Employers for Flexibility in Health Care, a coalition of trade associations and businesses with fluctuating workforces, to ensure that employer-sponsored health coverage remains competitive and affordable for employers to offer to their employees.  Rosado also serves on the Food and Drug Law Institute’s Policy Forum Editorial Advisory Board.

Previously, Rosado managed food and agricultural policy at the Biotechnology Industry Organization.  Rosado served in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service under President George W. Bush, directing legislative and public affairs related to international food and agricultural exports, trade policy, and food/development assistance.  From 2001 to 2006, Rosado was senior director of legislative affairs for the American Meat Institute, representing the meat and poultry industry.

Rosado has a Master’s of Arts degree in Public Policy focused on international commerce and policy from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and economics from Drew University in Madison, N.J.
