Thom Blischok

Thom Blischok is the Chief Retail Strategist and Senior Executive Advisor at Booz & Company. He is responsible for assisting retail clients understand, create, and implement a broad range of growth strategies for their respective banners. In addition, he supports a large number of traditional Consumer Package Goods clients design and implement next generation collaboration strategies and platforms. Thom is best known for his market leading thought leadership across a broad range of current industry issues including key marketing, merchandising, operations, format innovation, and organizational and operational design. He is a recognized international speaker who is well known for delivering compelling insights into the global retail and manufacturing industry.

William M. Consolie

Bill has over 25 years of experience in expert testimony, forensic accounting, financial analysis, auditing, financial reporting and project management primarily related to the construction and manufacturing industries. His industry experience includes health care, education, energy, wastewater treatment facilities, governmental agencies, manufacturing and high-rise condominium projects. Bill has audited, administered, analyzed and testified on various types of contracts including cost reimbursable, fixed price and time and material projects. He has also provided operational reviews of cost accounting systems, payroll reporting systems, bid cycle, financial reporting and contract administration processes. He has been a guest speaker on the topic of forensic accounting and is an adjunct professor of forensic accounting for the Master’s program at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Timothy Deck

Timothy Deck is a Senior Internal Auditor at C & S Wholesale Grocers, Inc. He is a global field auditor with over twenty five years of progressive leadership experience in auditing for U.S. and European retail stores/supermarkets and wholesale distribution centers. Tim has been instrumental in the development of compliance/operational audits with a primary focus on the reduction of waste, by enhancing controls based global corporate best practices. Tim graduated from Bryant and Stratton College with a degree in business.

Sam Glenn

Sam GlennSam Glenn is known at The Attitude Guy and has become one of the most recognized authorities on the subject of attitude today. Sam understands success and failure. At one time, Sam was negative, broke, depressed, homeless and got by working odd jobs at night as a janitor and delivering newspapers. Sam's attitude was in the dumps until a dear friend gave him what he calls a "Kick in the Attitude," a gift that changed his attitude for the better. Sam began to work on improving his attitude and made some personal and professional discoveries. With a new attitude in play, Sam went from sleeping on the floor and working as a janitor, to achieving dreams he once thought were unreachable.
Today, Sam is the author of several success books and energizes audiences as large as 75,000 at stadium events with his inspirational speeches and humor. For the past 15 years Sam Glenn has worked with hundreds of organizations on Training and Development, Peak Performance, Employee Motivation, Staff development, Leadership Training, Fundraisers or simply kicking off an event with the purpose to create a positive tone. Great things happen when you adopt a great attitude and apply it daily. In 2011 he was named Speaker of the Year by MI Meeting and Events Magazine. In 2010, Sam was awarded a Telly Award for Most Outstanding Motivational Video. In 2009, Sam was named Speaker of the Year by MPI (Meeting Professionals International). Sam currently resides in Indianapolis, fishes in his spare time and spends as much time with family when he is not traveling and motivating groups for success.

Marty Gurry

Marty Gurry has audited companies on four continents. Prior to entering the retail business with Meijer, Inc. he served in external or internal audit roles with two Big Four audit firms and a large privately held consumer products company. As Internal Audit Director at Meijer, Marty leads the audit team and is responsible for the development and execution of the annual audit plan. He also oversees the company's in-house store inventory teams. Marty's experience includes development and assessment of internal controls, process improvement and fraud investigations. Marty graduated from Xavier University with a degree in Accounting. He holds both a CPA and a CIA.

Leticia Herrera-Price

Leticia Herrera-Price, CIA, CFE is an independent training consultant on governance, risk and compliance and the principal/owner of LHP Consulting. Leticia trains organizations in managing risk to strategically create opportunities. She trains management on business ethics, conflict management, leadership and change management. Leticia has presented and trained on the topics of non-profit and Board governance as well as risk-based auditing for the local chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). Leticia has over 20 years of governance and risk experience with multi-billion dollar organizations, generating and driving a consistent message on corporate governance, internal controls, risk mitigation and corporate compliance to ensure integrity of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, safeguarding of assets, and operational efficiency and effectiveness. Previously, Leticia directed risk based audit plans for HEB Grocery Company and Diamond Shamrock/Valero.

David Horsager

Michael Howse

Michael has over 30 years of experience in internal audit, accounting and finance in the oil & gas, manufacturing, distribution and retail sectors. Currently, Michael is the Director of Internal Audit at Spartan Stores, Inc. Spartan Stores, Inc. In addition to being an integral part of the planning committee for the current FMI Internal Auditing Conference, Michael serves on the Board of Governors of the Western Michigan Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). Michael has also served in a number of officer positions within the IIA. He has been a frequent speaker at IIA functions and at audit director roundtable events, where he has spoken on such topics as operational auditing, fraud investigations and enterprise risk assessments and management.

Don Johnsey

Don Johnsey is the President of JD Johnsey & Associate. He has been involved in consulting, auditing, loss prevention and systems analysis since 1973 and is currently consulting with Ed Mehlman & Associates as Managing Director of Grocery Accounts Payable Audits. Previously, Don served as Regional Vice President at Howard Schultz & Associates working on the Wal-Mart account. He was also Vice President of Internal Audit and Loss Prevention with Randalls Food Markets, Director of Internal Audit for H.E. Butt Grocery Company and Manager of IT Audit with Armco Inc. Don served on the FMI Internal Audit planning committee from 1985 until 1999 and was its chairperson for seven years.

Heidi A. Liebenguth

Heidi A. Liebenguth is Senior Partner and Research Director at Crone Consulting, LLC and has experience assisting retailers, banks, and major payment networks define and implement their mobile banking, mobile payment and customer self-service strategies. She has executed RFPs and performed research on over 60 different companies offering mobile financial and retailing services, payments and mobile self-marketing. Heidi is a subject matter expert on all facets of customer self-service, self-marketing and loyalty. She has conducted extensive research on internet bill presentment & payment, online banking, emerging/alternative payments and other data processing services. Prior to joining Crone Consulting, Heidi led her own advertising, public relations and communications strategy firm. Previously, Heidi held the position of Advertising Manager at the American Broadcasting Company KABC-TV, Los Angeles. She holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Southern California.

Sandra Mallon

Sandra began her career with Brookshire Brothers in June of 1988 and is currently a Retail Audit Manager, a position she has held since 2001. Sandra audits all store locations as well as all standalone pharmacies. She performs yearly audits of the company’s anti-money laundering files and the check processing center and files findings and recommendations for better monitoring of risk violations to the Vice President of Internal Audit and the Executive Committee

Scott Moses

Scott Moses is the Managing Director and Head of Food, Drug and Specialty Retail Investment Banking at Sagent Advisors. Scott specializes in retail sector strategic and financial advice and has executed many M&A and financing engagements for retailers. Scott was selected to IDD’s “40 under 40” list of promising finance professionals in 2011 and has been a featured speaker at various FMI, Topco and ICSC conferences in recent years. Prior to joining Sagent Advisors, Scott was an Executive Director at J.P. Morgan Investment Bank where he led one of Wall Street’s most prominent food & drug retail M&A efforts. Scott has advised clients in many of the largest retail M&A transactions in the past decade with a combined transaction value of over $50bn. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and received his MBA and JD degrees from Columbia University, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and an executive editor of the Columbia Business Law Review.

Bill Naughton

Bill has over 31 years of audit management experience in all aspects of auditing including compliance, operations, finance and IT, using a process auditing approach. His responsibilities include internal control and risk assessment, regulatory compliance, external audit and regulator coordination. He has performed operational, process based audits for companies in retail/wholesale foods, financial services, healthcare, retail, distribution and manufacturing industries. He has participated in Sarbanes Oxley 404 certifications at an electronic distributor, a large financial institution, manufacturers and a retail/distribution company. Bill has been a past instructor of audit processes and has been a speaker at multiple professional chapter meetings and seminars.

Carl Ray Polk

Carl Ray Pol is a managing partner of Corner Capital Advisors, a specialized investment banking/merchant banking group dedicated to the downstream energy sector. He primarily focuses on mergers, acquisitions and recapitalization in the refined fuel segments, wholesale distribution and convenience store space. Carl Ray began his career selling commercial fuels and lubricants for the family business, Polk Oil Co., Inc. He conducted a buyout of the company in 2003 and sold it to Brookshire Brothers in 2007. He served as Executive Vice President for three years, was appointed to the Board of Directors and served on the Audit Committee. Carl Ray currently serves on the Board of Directors of Tank Owners Mutual Insurance Co. and The Texas Petroleum Marketers Association. Carl Ray received his education from Kilgore Junior College and The University of Texas-Austin. He also completed the Mergers and Acquisition Program at the Anderson School of Business at UCLA.

Anne-Marie Roerink

Anne-Marie RoerinkAnne-Marie is a Principal at 210 Analytics, LLC — a marketing research firm located in San Antonio, TX. 210 Analytics focuses on customized research and marketing strategies with a specialty in grocery. Anne-Marie served as the Director of Research for the Food Marketing Institute for seven years. In this capacity, she was responsible for developing, implementing and directing all FMI’s research efforts with state-of-the-industry consumer insights and food retailing operational benchmarking. Before joining FMI, Anne-Marie was the Director of Marketing & Research at the American Society of Travel Agents. She earned a Masters and Bachelors degree in international business in the Netherlands.

Mandy Strauss

Mandy Strauss is an Assurance Partner with McGladrey LLP. She has experience working with private middle market companies, with a focus on serving retail (specifically the grocery industry), manufacturing and distribution industries. Mandy is also involved in audits of companies owned by private equity groups. Her client service focus includes audits of financial statements, general business advice, and acquisitions and recapitalizations. She is involved in the development and presentation of certain educational courses for McGladrey's professionals, including how to utilize IDEA (data extraction software) within the audit environment.

Valdis I. Undiks, CAMS

Valdis I. Undiks, CAMS currently works for Western Union as a Strategic Compliance Advisor and has served as a key leader in developing anti-money laundering policies and procedures for some of the nation’s largest banks, retail and grocery businesses. Valdis served in the U.S. Army for 7 years and is a veteran of the Gulf War. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. He is also gained the Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist designation (CAMS) in 2008.
