FMI Senior Vice President Jill Hollingsworth Presented Lifetime Achievement Award by NSF International

ARLINGTON, VA — April 20, 2011 — Food Marketing Institute (FMI) Senior Vice President of Food Safety Jill Hollingsworth, D.V.M., received the 2011 NSF Food Safety Leadership Award for Lifetime Achievement at the Food Safety Summit today in Washington, DC.

“We are very proud to have Jill recognized for the extraordinary contributions she has made to the food industry, specifically in the food safety arena,” said FMI President and Chief Executive Officer Leslie G. Sarasin. “Her knowledge, insight and leadership have been invaluable to our members as they work to address food safety challenges and ensure a safer food supply for consumers.”

Dr. Hollingsworth has been leading FMI’s food safety initiatives for nearly 15 years. The programs developed under her leadership have positioned FMI as the gold standard for food safety in the retail food industry. She also serves as the head of the newly established Center of Excellence for Food Safety and Protection. Prior to joining FMI, Dr. Hollingsworth worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 15 years where she was responsible for a wide variety of scientific activities including outbreak investigations, recalls and public health policy. She served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Reserves as part of the Biomedical Service Corps, specializing in biological warfare and food defense.
She has a BS in agriculture and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia.
