Safe Quality Food Launches New Website to Help Diverse Users Navigate Growing Program Offerings

March 5, 2009
ARLINGTON, VA — March 5, 2009 — The Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI) recently launched a new website — www.sqfi.com — organizing the content according to the needs of the diverse community of users, including food suppliers, retail buyers, auditors and certification bodies, and training centers and consultants.

Representatives of each group can find the information and services they require grouped together on separate web pages. A list of more than 40 guidance documents, codes, applications and registration forms are also grouped by user.

Retailers can perform highly targeted searches for SQF-certified suppliers, specifying, for example, the product category, company type (primary producer or manufacturer), level of certification (1, 2 or 3) and country.

A feature titled “How do I do it?” links website visitors to the answers to common questions, such as:

  • Find a certification body/training center/consultant/auditor/certified supplier?

  • Register as a supplier?

  • Find SQF retail supporters?

  • Get help with the online SQF exam?

SQFI, a division of the Food Marketing Institute, offers a leading, global food safety and quality certification program and management system, designed to meet the needs of buyers and suppliers worldwide. The program provides independent certification that a supplier’s food safety and quality management system complies with international and domestic food safety regulations. This enables suppliers to assure their customers that food has been produced, processed, prepared and handled according to the highest possible standards, at all levels of the supply chain.

Food Marketing Institute proudly advocates on behalf of the food retail industry. FMI’s U.S. members operate nearly 40,000 retail food stores and 25,000 pharmacies, representing a combined annual sales volume of almost $770 billion. Through programs in public affairs, food safety, research, education and industry relations, FMI offers resources and provides valuable benefits to more than 1,225 food retail and wholesale member companies in the United States and around the world. FMI membership covers the spectrum of diverse venues where food is sold, including single owner grocery stores, large multi-store supermarket chains and mixed retail stores.
