Safe Quality Food Launches New Website to Help Diverse Users Navigate Growing Program Offerings

March 5, 2009
ARLINGTON, VA — March 5, 2009 — The Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI) recently launched a new website — www.sqfi.com — organizing the content according to the needs of the diverse community of users, including food suppliers, retail buyers, auditors and certification bodies, and training centers and consultants.

Representatives of each group can find the information and services they require grouped together on separate web pages. A list of more than 40 guidance documents, codes, applications and registration forms are also grouped by user.

Retailers can perform highly targeted searches for SQF-certified suppliers, specifying, for example, the product category, company type (primary producer or manufacturer), level of certification (1, 2 or 3) and country.

A feature titled “How do I do it?” links website visitors to the answers to common questions, such as:

  • Find a certification body/training center/consultant/auditor/certified supplier?

  • Register as a supplier?

  • Find SQF retail supporters?

  • Get help with the online SQF exam?

SQFI, a division of the Food Marketing Institute, offers a leading, global food safety and quality certification program and management system, designed to meet the needs of buyers and suppliers worldwide. The program provides independent certification that a supplier’s food safety and quality management system complies with international and domestic food safety regulations. This enables suppliers to assure their customers that food has been produced, processed, prepared and handled according to the highest possible standards, at all levels of the supply chain.

Food Marketing Institute (FMI) conducts programs in public affairs, food safety, research, education and industry relations on behalf of its nearly 1,250 food retail and wholesale member companies in the United States and around the world. FMI’s U.S. members operate more than 25,000 retail food stores and almost 22,000 pharmacies with a combined annual sales volume of nearly $650 billion.  FMI’s retail membership is composed of large multi-store chains, regional firms and independent operators. Its international membership includes 126 companies from more than 65 countries. FMI’s nearly 330 associate members include the supplier partners of its retail and wholesale members.
