Nutrition-Focused Exhibits, Daily Fun Walks, Expert Panels and Endless Aisles of Information Accent Healthy Living Pavilion at 2004 FMI Show

March 26, 2004
WASHINGTON, DC — March 26, 2004 — Responding to the nation’s call for a healthier America, the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) will introduce a first-ever Healthy Living Pavilion at the 2004 FMI Show, May 2-4 at the McCormick Place Convention Center in downtown Chicago.

“With so many healthy options available in supermarkets across the country, food retailers and wholesalers are uniquely qualified to lead America’s obesity challenge,” said FMI Senior Vice President Brian Tully. “FMI is especially pleased to present this Healthy Living Pavilion to inform show attendees about the latest products and concepts driving health and nutrition awareness, and the many strategic opportunities that go with it.”

Consisting of a blend of dynamic exhibits, educational programming and demonstrations, the Healthy Living Pavilion is designed to bring awareness to the important role food retailers and wholesalers can have as the nation sheds unwanted pounds.

Key features include:

Daily Fun Walks: Every morning during the show, FMI will host a chartered course around the exhibit floor, identifying key exhibits associated with health-oriented products, services and information. Celebrities, health care workers and others will be encouraged to join the walk and help lead the way to a healthier industry.

“Meet the Experts” Panels: Interactive panel discussions will be hosted at the Pavilion each day, focusing on a variety of wellness issues such as establishing a healthy lifestyle; managing health conditions; the role of the pharmacy in wellness education; and the specific health needs of different costumer segments.

Self-Tour Guides: Self-tour guides will be made available centered around topical issues such as low-carb diets, cardiovascular health, diet and weight management, healthy snacks, diabetes, natural and organic products, women’s health and men’s health.

Special Events: Cholesterol screenings, bone density tests, blood pressure checks and other health measures screenings will be conducted at the Pavilion each day, as well as cooking demonstrations, book signings and other selected special events.
