Nestled along the scenic coast of Sardinia, this EUROSPAR location underwent a 2025 renovation, resulting in a new look and expanded offerings. The makeover reflects Salvatore Cossu’s approach to continually make the store better for its customers, community and team members.

That approach began almost as soon as he joined SPAR in 2008. Salvatore quickly moved up from sales assistant to assistant store manager to store manager and, after taking over the Sorso location in 2018, turned what had been a struggling business into one of the company’s most profitable locations with ongoing sales growth and employee productivity.

While he drives success in KPIs, Salvatore improves the experience for the shopper base, which includes residents as well as tourists who flock to Sardinia during the summer months. As part of the recent refresh, the store added a gastronomy department staffed by two chefs who prepare an array of hot and cold foods every day. Salvatore also oversaw the creation of a vegetable corner offering fresh salads and cut fruit. For a better shopping flow, customers can now opt for self-checkout or traditional service lanes.

Salvatore has also revamped the store culture, encouraging staff to maximize sales opportunities through tactics like targeted upselling and seasonal incremental displays. Using a coaching leadership style, he emphasizes company rules to his team members and motivates them by involving them in objectives and encouraging creativity, ensuring the store always puts its best foot forward.
