Luke Schentrup didn’t just have a good year, according to his colleagues at The Fresh Market: his performance was billed as one of the best in recent company history. As a result of his impressive streak of sales and EBITDA growth, associate development and innovative merchandising tactics, Luke was tapped to open a newly rebuilt store in Hendersonville, N.C.

Not content with success in one place, Luke enthusiastically delved into managing the new store while making sure his previous store was in the best position for continued performance. He trained the backfill team at the former location and mentored its newly-promoted store manager. Now, Luke rallies his new team in Hendersonville by communicating goals with energy and clarity, creating buy-in among associates.  

The future bodes well for that revamped location, given the fact that Luke has won the retailer’s President’s Club award several times. The recognition by Fresh Market leaders underscores his ability to balance financial performance with operational discipline and people leadership. In 2024, he turned his store into a critical community resource in the aftermath of the devastating Hurricane Helene, demonstrating that strong leaders weather every storm to deliver for their customers, staff and neighborhoods.
