One of Hy-Vee’s longest-serving store directors, Jamie Franck has, in many ways, come full circle in the organization. After rising through the ranks and taking on various regional, district and even board of director roles, he returned to a single store director position in 2025.

The 37-year company veteran opted for that position because Jamie firmly believes in the importance of visible day-to-day leadership, especially at one of the chain’s highest-volume stores with nearly 500 employees. There, you’ll find Jamie on the sales floor, exemplifying hands-on leadership by cutting meat during peak periods or stepping in to fill the gaps.  

Jamie’s steady hand is paying off, as that store’s performance has shifted, with consistent increases in sales and customer counts. Today, Jamie’s location is one of Hy‐Vee’s top 10 volume and profit stores. Jamie doesn’t rest on his laurels, though, and devotes time to planning future wins with systems that allow teams to execute efficiently and sustainably.

Jamie pays his knowledge forward to create other full-circle moments. Recently, after seeing an associate struggling to meet expectations, Jamie assigned him to lead a different team, where that person found a niche and guided that area to the third-highest performing department of its kind in the district.
