Last year, Ashten hosted two power outage training sessions at her Market District store in Solon, Ohio, which drew more than 40 leaders throughout the company who learned how to ensure food safety during energy disruptions. She also leads the region’s fresh merchandising communications, helping maintain the quality and appeal of Giant Eagle’s fresh offerings.

Ashten’s strong communication and mentoring skills are evident at her store. It’s a two-way street, as she clearly conveys store and company goals and also helps her 250 direct reports feel comfortable sharing ideas with her. A strong advocate for volunteerism, Ashten emphasizes the importance of giving back one’s time and talent.

In addition to helping others around her succeed, Ashten continually strives to improve her store’s performance. Sales are steadily strong under her stewardship, and the location has been recognized by several brand partners as a sales growth leader.

Ashten has been singled out for her achievements within and beyond Giant Eagle, named a Top Woman in Market District and recognized for perfect internal audits. She serves as president of the BLACC resource group and chairs the company’s inclusion council, continuing to mentor and inspire others on their own road to personal and professional success.
