The FMI Foundation Supports a New Cohort of Scholars Studying Food Safety

Food safety auditing, an integral piece of food safety system, is in need of well-trained food auditors entering the workforce. By supporting students in the field through a scholarship program, the FMI Foundation is helping to raise the bar for the future food safety auditors of North America and, in turn, supporting the health and well-being of consumers.

With our application numbers growing from 78 applications in 2023 to 152 in 2024, we at the FMI Foundation have recognized a need for another set of outstanding scholars we can support to reach their academic goals. In 2025, the FMI Foundation decided to expand its scholarship offerings to include another tier of applicants: Tier 2. Tier 2 scholarship winners receive $1,000 to be used towards educational expenses and a complimentary course provided by SQFI, the hosting organization for SQF Unites.

In addition, we have now announced the 2025-2026 cohort of scholars, who will be attending SQF Unites 2026! Read more about this on our official blog.

Please contact us at Foundation@fmi.org if you would like to be added or if you have someone we can add to our communications list for the 2026-2027 scholarship cycle!

The FMI Foundation strives to support food retail and consumers in the areas of food safety, nutrition and health through research and education and has continually built upon its vision of advancing support in ways you will see throughout this website.
