Public Affairs Meetings and Events
As you might imagine, we are facing a challenging situation in Washington on a number of fronts due to the government shutdown. It is certainly our intention at this point to proceed with our plans for FMI Board members who are available to do so to meet with several top agency officials on Wednesday afternoon, October 16th. We will gather at the Ritz Carlton at noon for lunch and a quick issue discussion and then depart to the federal agencies.
At this point, we have confirmed appointments with UnderSecretary of USDA Kevin Concannon, USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack and FDA Deputy Commissioner for Foods, Mike Taylor. We have also requested an appointment with OMB OIRA Administrator Howard Shelanski and are hopeful to have that one confirmed as well as soon as the government shutdown is concluded. Attached is a draft schedule and a copy of the bios of the various officials.
Shuttle service from The Ritz Carlton lobby will be provided for all federal agency visits and the FoodPAC reception aboard the USS Sequoia. Please see the schedule of events for exact shuttle times.
If you have not previously indicated to us that you would like to participate in the federal agency meetings or the FoodPAC reception and buffet dinner on October 16th, it is not too late to do so and I strongly encourage your participation. Please call Jennifer Hatcher at 202-220-0734 to discuss this opportunity.
