Check-In: 5:30am – 6:00am
Race: 6:00am – 7:00am
Post-Race Party at the Finish Line: 7:00am – 8:30am
Location & Getting to the Race
The FMI Foundation Fun Run will start and finish at Avery Field in Grant Park (located at Southwest corner of Grant Park near the intersection of South Columbus Drive and East Roosevelt Road).
There is limited parking available. We strongly advise you take a taxi to the race site.
Race Check-In & Race Number Pick-Up
Race shirts and race numbers will be distributed at the race check-in area at the registration area at FMI Connect at McCormick Center and on race day in the start area. Race bags will be distributed at the post-race party.
Race Route
The scenic course runs along the beautiful Lake Shore Drive in Grant Park. The 5K course has a 1.25 hour time limit (25 minute mile pace).
Runners will be stopped at the Monroe cross walk by course marshals to allow vehicles access to Monroe Yacht Club. Announcements will be made prior to the race to let runners know they have to stop for traffic.
Hydration
Water will be located in the start/finish area, and two hydration stations will be located along the race route.
Timing, Results & Awards
The FMI Foundation inaugural Fun Run will have race clocks at the start/finish line but we will not be tracking official times. The Fun Run was designed to be a fun, non-competitive event, so there will not be awards presented at the race.
Post-Race Party
After the event, finishers, colleagues and friends can celebrate in the post-race area. Music, snacks and beverages will be provided for everyone to enjoy. Race bags will also be distributed after the race.

Unfortunately we can’t predict the weather, but the average temperatures for Chicago in June are listed below:
- Average High – 80 degrees
- Average Low – 61 degrees
Photography
We will have photographers at the Fun Run. As an observer, attendee and/or participant of the 2014 FMI Foundation 5k Fun Run, you grant permission to FMI and FMI Foundation to use photographs from the event(s) for event documentation, media coverage and promotion. Photographs may be used on FMI’s and FMI Foundation’s website and social media or in other printed publications without further consideration, and you acknowledge the FMI’s and FMI Foundation’s right to crop or treat the photograph at its discretion. You also understand that once an image is posted on the internet, the image can be downloaded by any computer. Therefore, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless FMI and FMI Foundation from any claims.
Safety & Security
Pack light: Leave backpacks and unnecessary items at your hotel room. If you don’t need it, don’t bring it.
See something, say something: If you see something suspicious, inform the event staff, contact the nearest police officer or call 911.
