The supermarket industry faces a host of transportation related issues and regulations as food products are delivered throughout the supply chain. Among these many issues, FMI members comply with regulations that address the safety of transported food, the number of hours that truck drivers can be on the road over the span of a designated shift and trucks' maximum weight, as determined by federal and local law. FMI supports many existing regulations that protect the nation's food supply and the safety of the industry's employees. FMI is engaged with the various regulatory agencies to ensure that new regulations are effective but not overly burdensome to our members’ businesses.
