From 2012 – 2015 FMI, along with the generous support of several sponsors, produced the Supermarket Chef Showdown competition, which celebrated and honored supermarket culinary professionals. Each year finalists competed live for the title of FMI Supermarket Chef Showdown Grand Champion. 

In 2016 the program was redesigned to include enhanced education offerings and called Supermarket Chefs.
