We've designed the Future Leaders eXperience event with you in mind... and we want you to have the best experience you possibly can with us.

There's lots of things you can do to best prepare for your on-site experience. Read our advice below to begin your journey to joining us on-site at the Future Leaders eXperience.

What to Do (Before You Arrive)

Mobile App

If you only do one thing to prepare, download the Future Leaders eXperience mobile app to your mobile device. You should have already received an invitation and link to download the app, if not, please download the “FMI Events” app in the Google Play or Apple Store. This app gives you the ability to connect with other attendees in advance, including your team members. It will also allow you to view the program agenda, schedule meetings, post updates, participate in discussions and create digital business cards and much more. Online Networking and Your Team Assignment

When you log in to the mobile app,  your team assignment can be found in your profile. You will be working in this team onsite in a number of hands-on activities. Teams have been set up according to certain criteria, so your cooperation in staying in your assigned team is appreciated. We will not be making team adjustments on-site.

To connect with your team members:

•           Open the Future Leaders eXperience app
•           Click on the "attendees" button on the lower navigation bar of the app
•           Android Users: Click on the word "All" in the top left corner.
•           iOS Users: Click on the word "filter” in the top right corner.
•           Select your team number to view your team members
•           Click on individual attendees to send them a message to say hello!

We encourage you to start communicating and getting to know your team mates in advance of arriving to Louisville.

Pre-Event Assessment

If you have not already done so, please complete a self-assessment survey prior to arriving in Louisville to help you make the most of your eXperience. The survey creates a baseline for sustainment activities that will help you get the most out of your experience, and is the first step towards the optional Food Retail Leader Certificate Program. It will help you reflect on your current leadership capabilities and help you identify areas to focus on during the event. Instructions and enrollment codes were sent to all attendees. What to Do (When You Get There)

Check-out: 11:00 am

The Omni will make every effort to accommodate early arrivals. If your room is not ready when you arrive, you may check your bag with the bell stand.

The Future Leaders event concludes at 12:30pm on Thursday, May 17th. You may check your bags with the bell stand as they will hold your bags until after the event is over.

Getting to the Hotel

The Omni Louisville Hotel is located 8 miles from the Louisville International Airport (SDF). Taxis are readily available and cost approximately $24.00/one way. Ride sharing services such as Uber and Lyft operate out of the airport. Please follow the instructions in your app to request a ride.


The Future Leaders Registration & Information Desk will be located in the Commonwealth Ballroom Foyer located on the 2nd level for badge pick-up and information.

Your registration includes two breakfasts, one luncheon, one Grab-and-Go Box Lunch, one reception and access to the Food Truck Night. Please wear your badge to all conference events, as it is your ticket for entrance.

Jim Beam Mixology Class and Reception

Hosted by FMI’s FoodPAC

This event is open to all attendees.  Join us for a reception and mixology class on Wednesday, May 16th,  5:30pm-6:30pm at the Jim Beam Urban Stillhouse, immediately prior to group dinners. The Urban Stillhouse is great venue and walking distance from our hotel.  Participants will learn how to create an Old Fashioned cocktail and build additional flavor profiles. 

There is an additional fee to participate and tickets are limited.  All participants must be 21 years or older.

What to Wear

The dress code for all events is business casual. No formal business suits required! 

Remember, you are representing your company, so keep their expectations in mind.

Meeting rooms are many times chilly, so we advise you to bring layers to ensure your comfort. The Food Truck Night takes place outdoors - casual attire is appropriate for the event. Please remember to wear your badge!
