Happy Birthday Mitty

During the month of September, FMI Staff celebrated National Family Meals Month™ with weekly events. The month kicked off with a pot luck celebration where everyone had the opportunity to share dishes that were special to their families. We also took the opportunity to celebrate Mitty’s (the FMI Foundation Family Meals Spokes-Mitt) third birthday. I shared my favorite cheesecake that is normally reserved for my birthday.

In the middle of the month, the FMI family competed for the best slow cooker recipes. This competition was based on the categories at last year’s Stir It Up! event, and FMI staff judged each dish in the categories of Tastiest Family Meal, Most Affordable Family Meal, Easiest Family Meal, Best Culinary Adventure Family Meal, and Best Breakfast or Lunch. Our closing ceremonies announced the winners of the slow cooker competition, as well as shared a family meal that was brought to us by our very own Lucas Darnell of Old Virginia Smoke. All three of these events were a great way to bring the staff together for a family meal.

What did you and your company do to celebrate National Family Meals Month? The Foundation celebrates the best in family meals through the Gold Plate Awards presented during the Stir It Up! event at FMI’s Midwinter Executive Conference. Please fill out an application for the Gold Plate Awards today!
