Flashing back two decades, the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) worked in tandem with industry partners, federal government agencies, and the food science community to launch the Partnership for Food Safety Education (PFSE). Last week, FMI joined the PFSE to celebrate its 20th anniversary at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. FMI’s President and CEO, Leslie G. Sarasin, and Joe Corby, executive director, Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) hosted the luncheon. FMI’s Chief Food & Product Safety Officer and Senior Vice President, Food Safety Programs, PhD, RD, CFS, Hilary Thesmar, Arthur Liang, MD, MPH, senior advisor for food safety, Center for Disease Control, and Kathy Means, vice president of industry relations of the Produce Marketing Association joined the celebration and honored the PFSE’s many achievements.
