Question Head

If you’re a food safety professional working on the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) these days you might be having an identity crisis. It’s okay. Stay calm, we have resources to help.

FSMA's Preventive Controls rule called out a new responsibility. The proposed rule language released last year indicated that training and maintenance of training records would be required for individuals who have access to food safety processes related to the execution of their jobs. We now know those folks as "Qualified Individuals."

The final rule introduced another individual known as the "Preventive Controls Qualified Individual" or PCQI. A PCQI must be designated at your company. They'll have additional responsibilities and should be your 'go-to' food safety person.

PCQI or QI?

What does the difference between PCQI and QI mean to your company? Watch the five minute webisode below from ResposiTrak, as Dr. Hilary Thesmar, VP FMI Food Safety Programs outlines the responsibility and required training for these two individuals and the key differences between them.
