Manager, Member Program Sales & Marketing

Primary Purpose

Initiate, develop and manage sales & marketing strategies for all of FMI Affinity programs (FMI Members Plus program) to meet organizational objectives of member service and savings and to increase non-dues revenues, maximize revenue sources, strengthen brand awareness, market positioning, and support member retention and growth. 

The programs include:

  • Fleet Management
  • Ameriquest Direct Spend – Office Supplies, Uniforms, etc.
  • ReposiTrak
  • RevenueShield
  • SafeMark®
  • Additional vendors, partners, and services  that we bring into the program

Essential Job Functions

  • Work with Vice President, Marketing and Events to formulate and execute short- and long-term organizational and program-related sales and marketing plans and budgets. Establish a plan of work to maximize member value and FMI revenue.
  • Analyze potential  new service and/or product offerings ; and recommend enhanced and/or new programs as needed.


  • For SafeMark®, develop a sales plan and conduct outbound sales calls to create stronger employer buy-in and adoption to the retailer food safety program. Work with business partners (online training and testing & certification partner, to grow the program and accomplish revenue goals.
  • Conduct follow up on sales leads and existing SafeMark® customers in coordination with the FMI Food Safety team.
  • Maintain a prospect list and conduct sales outreach and follow-up to increase SafeMark® sales.
  • Work with the external program partners to create, implement and evaluate sales, marketing and promotional plans and adjust as needed for program growth.
  • Manage collaboratively with affinity partners to promote their outreach and FMI’s involvement with members, associate members and potential members. Monitor their progress.
  • Coordinate compatibility of marketing programs with the FMI mission and strategic plan.  Support organizational branding initiatives by reinforcing FMI’s services and values throughout all marketing initiatives.


  • Manage marketing and creative projects and marketing campaigns for affinity programs with brand owners
  • Work collaboratively with the marketing team to develop effective promotional/marketing materials, from strategic planning to collateral development (print and online) – including design oversight, copywriting, editing and proofing.
  • Keep Senior staff, membership and industry relations staff informed of programs so that as they visit with members, they can promote the programs.
  • Construct and maintain marketing budgets.
  • Identify needs for new outside resources, devise contracts, manage relationships and ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Conduct performance analysis to identify opportunities for improvement of marketing plans.
  • Negotiate advertising contracts and barters in coordination with the marketing team.
  • Create strategies for building Member Plus program awareness at FMI signature events and conferences.

Other Job Functions

  • Attend other department staff meetings to gain industry knowledge
  • Other duties and projects as assigned or directed. 

Physical Requirements

Normal office environment requiring use of typical business equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, fax, copier, security system). Ability to travel



Education Skills Experience Required

  • College degree in Sales,Marketing or related field.
  • Three to five years prior professional work experience desired in a similar capacity.
  • Strong sales, customer service and team orientation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.  Excellent interpersonal communications skills, including presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Strong time management, organization and project planning skills.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to work with associates and members at all levels and with varying levels of computer literacy.
  • Creative, proactive and a self-starter.
  • Customer service and team orientation.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with attention to detail.
