FMI and Pearson Education have co-developed a comprehensive food safety and sanitation training program based on retail best practices. The program was authored by David McSwane, Ph.D. (Indiana State University School of Public Health), Richard Linton, Ph.D. (Purdue University Food Science Dept.), Nancy Rue, Ph.D., RN, and Pearson's experts in instructional design. A group of retail food safety experts helped review and develop the SuperSafeMark® program. The results - a comprehensive food safety training program for all levels of employees, from management to line workers, to become competent in food safety.
The design of the SuperSafeMark® training materials makes the difference by incorporating:
- Custom photos of retail settings
- Pull out boxes with key information
- Comprehensive indexing
- Customized graphics and charts
- Adjusted reading levels and presentation styles to fit the learner's ability
- Best practices to complement the current FDA Model Food Code
- Assorted "Review" and "Test Your Knowledge" quizzes
- Real-life case studies and examples of food safety scenarios
- Cartoon illustrations by John Wise
