Local Requirements: As of February 1, 2010, the State of Alaska will accept the Municipality of Anchorage Food Worker Cards in all areas of the state.

State Food Worker Cards issued on 1/1/2010 and later are valid in all areas of the State except for the Municipality of Anchorage.

Note: Although the State of Alaska accepts the Municipality's card, the Municipality of Anchorage does not accept State of Alaska Food Worker Cards (issued after Dec 31, 2009). If you need a Food Worker Card for employment within the Municipality of Anchorage, you must take the Municipality's test.

Summary of Code Requirements: State requires retail food establishments to have at least one Certified Food Protection Manager on staff during hours of operation. If CFPM is not present, he/she must assign someone who is knowledgeable in food safety to take his/her place. Municipality of Anchorage does not have a CFPM requirement. Food workers must have a Food Worker card that may be obtained online, through the mail, or taking a test at local health departments.
