- COL Top 10 Tips for Inspection (July 2009)
Earlier in the year USDA announced that it planned to inspect 1 out of every 7 grocery stores for COOL compliance before November 30, 2009. They have completed hundreds of the 5,000 grocery store inspections they intend to conduct. Overall, our industry appears to be doing quite well. It is estimated that inspections will take approximately 3 hours and they are having a significant impact on our members -- at least 15,000 hours of time will be spent with state inspectors in stores before the November 30 deadline. The "top 10" practical tips for preparing for and dealing with country of origin labeling inspections are below. - FMI Web Presentation on USDA Procedures for Inspecting Retail Stores for COOL (June 5, 2009)
