Ed Crenshaw Elected FMI Vice Chairman of Industry Relations

ARLINGTON, VA — May 5, 2009 — Food Marketing Institute (FMI) announced today that Ed Crenshaw, chief executive officer, Publix Super Markets, Inc., was elected vice chairman of the FMI Board of Directors and chairman of the industry relations committee. He has served on the FMI Board since 2003, and as a member of the executive committee since 2005.

     Crenshaw joined Publix in 1974 as a stock clerk in Lake Wales, Florida. He served in various positions in buying and retail operations before becoming CEO in 2008.

     Publix, the largest employee-owned supermarket chain in the United States, operates more than 1,000 stores in five states: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. The company also operates eight distribution centers and five manufacturing facilities for bakery, dairy, deli, fresh foods and printing services in Florida and Georgia.

     Crenshaw has been active with many charitable organizations over the years including the Kidney Foundation of Central Florida, the Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center, the Polk County School Board Business Commission, the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce and the Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

     He also serves on the board of GS1-US.

     Crenshaw graduated from Baylor University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
