Dean Peterson Elected to FMI Board

ARLINGTON, VA — MAY 5, 2009 — Food Marketing Institute (FMI) announced today the election of Dean Peterson, president of Harmon City Inc., to the FMI Board of Directors.

Peterson has worked in the grocery industry for 38 years, starting out as a night-time stocker at Harmons. He moved up the ranks and has served in his current role since 1997.

Harmons is a locally owned supermarket that started out as a small produce stand 76 years ago in Salt Lake City. The company operates 13 grocery stores in Utah.

     Peterson has been active with the Utah Food Industry Association and served on its board of directors and as Chairman of the Board. He has served on the Associated Food Stores Retail Development Committee and Audit Committee and chaired the Retailer Council and Retail Development Committee.
