NOVEMBER 3, 2015 – INDIANAPOLIS – Food Marketing Institute (FMI) Foundation today awarded 10 scholarships to students pursuing food systems auditing as a career. The program was especially competitive this year; 27 scholarship contenders vied for $30,000 in scholarships and an all-expense paid trip to the SQF International Conference where they will network with more than 650 food industry professionals.

FMI’s Foundation recognizes students currently enrolled in food and agricultural science majors who have a true interest in the field of accredited food safety auditing. The attributes for successful candidates include: academic ability; leadership potential; motivation and initiative; along with a passion for the food industry and the auditing profession.

Safe Quality Food Institute, a division of FMI, is a trusted source for global food safety and quality certification. SQFI Senior Vice President Robert Garfield celebrated the future leaders, saying, “It’s an exciting time to be in the food industry because the regulatory environment is demanding more attention to the technical side of the food chain. These exceptional young professionals are choosing a career in food systems auditing because they recognize the opportunities ahead and decided to ride this wave of tidal transformation in the food industry.”
