Ty Kelley is Director of Government Relations and joined FMI’s government relations department in 1988.  His legislative portfolio concentrates to a great degree on numerous labor and employment issues affecting the supermarket industry.  Other major initiatives at the federal level that he handles include organized retail crime, Americans with Disabilities Act, potential sales restrictions on Pseudoephedrine and Dextromethorphan, restoring FSA/Debit Card purchases of over-the-counter medications using pre-tax dollars and tobacco.

Prior to joining FMI, Kelley served in a similar lobbying capacity with the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.  He also worked on Capitol Hill as a legislative assistant and press secretary for Congressman James J. Delaney (D-NY).  Ty graduated from the University of South Carolina where he earned a B.A. degree in journalism.
