FMI Webinar: FDA’s FSMA Final Rule on Food Defense

Thursday, July 7, 2016 (2:30pm - 3:30pm US/Eastern)

On May 27, 2016, FDA published a final rule on “Mitigation Strategies to Protect Food Against Intentional Adulteration” as part of its implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). According to the FDA, the purpose of this food defense rule is to protect the food supply from intentional acts of adulteration intended to cause harm to public health. The rule requires covered facilities to prepare and implement a food defense plan. The food defense rule is the last of FDA’s seven foundational rules in its implementation of FSMA.

On Thursday, July 7 at 2:30 p.m. EDT, FMI will host a webinar to present on the food defense rule and its requirements for FMI member companies. FMI members will be given a chance to ask questions on the regulation after the presentation. For more information, contact FMI’s chief regulatory officer Stephanie Barnes, sbarnes@fmi.org.
