The presidential election is seven short days away and has been in the spotlight for over the past year now, but the outcome of the hundreds of congressional elections will have a significant impact on the policy agenda for the 115th Congress, especially if there are any shifts in majority control. The outcome of just a few seats in the Senate or the House could change which party will wield control of the chamber for the next two years.

Voting is an important civic duty, whether the election is for control of the White House or your kid’s student government president. Being informed and engaged in civic issues is everyone’s responsibility, but oftentimes, the process of learning about the candidates and casting a ballot can seem excessively burdensome. Don’t be discouraged. Taking time to get to your local voting booth is extremely critical, and this year’s election is no exception. Policy affects people from the local level up. Exercising your individual rights can have a tremendous impact on the political outcome.

FMI wants to help make it easy for you to be educated about priority issues, learn more about your candidates, and be able to check the locations of your voting precinct. FMI’s Voting Resources page can help: www.fmi.org/VotingResources
