Day In Washington 2016

FMI will be hosting its annual Day in Washington fly-in next month, and the timing to make the trip to the nation’s capital could not be better. Our industry has several important legislative initiatives this year, and nothing is more important for our efforts than lawmakers hearing your stories first hand.  We look forward to seeing many of you next month.  We’re pleased to again partner with the National Grocers Association (NGA) and Food Industry Association Executives (FIAE) for our Day in Washington meetings April 19 – 21 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.

Advocacy App

This year, we’re planning to kick-off the fly-in with a food industry reception on Capitol Hill with our friends at the American Beverage Association and the Grocery Manufacturers Association. We will dedicate most of the next two days of meetings with congressional offices to discuss our priority issues, including menu labeling and food safety. Every year, I look forward to the unique perspectives our grocers present to lawmakers on the Hill and the way they highlight the impact of these issues on their businesses.

In addition to our meetings, we’ll be hosting speakers who will give us an overview of the current political landscape and present the Donald H. MacManus Association Executive Award for extraordinary leadership in public affairs, industry relations and community relations.

Please make sure to download our FMI Advocacy app. Users can access a congressional directory, Capitol Hill directions and issue talking points, among other things. Ever been in one of your grocery stores and wondered who your Member of Congress is – this is the app for that!  The app is available for iOS and Android devices under “FMI Advocacy” on your app store.
