Herkert joined SUPERVALU in 2009 from Wal-Mart, where he served as president and CEO of the Americas. Prior to joining Wal-Mart, Herkert spent 23 years with American Stores and Albertsons. He was executive vice president of marketing for Albertsons and previously served as president of Acme Markets. He began his career in food retail as a teenager employed at Jewel-Osco in Chicago. Herkert holds a master’s of business administration from Northern Illinois University and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from St. Francis College in Joliet, IL.
