The need for food safety system auditors will continue to escalate as  the global supply chain continues to expand. To encourage careers in the field, the FMI Foundation has teamed up with The Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI) to provide a Food Safety Auditing Scholarship and Education Travel Grant to each of the 30 deserving college students in the past four years. This award recognizes extraordinary students enrolled in a food and agricultural science program that have a passion in pursuing a career in food systems auditing.

In addition to the $3,000 scholarship, the students receive an all-expense paid trip to the SQF International Conference held in the fall. This gives the winners the incredible opportunity to network with over 750 professionals in the food safety community that attend this conference.

Before the conference, Emily Mason, a graduate student in Food Chemistry at McGill University and a 2016 a scholarship winner, shared, “I’m most excited about listening to the speakers at the SQF Conference. It’s really great to listen to people who have over 20 years of experience in the food industry and for them to share their knowledge is a truly amazing experience.”

Check out what the winning students had to say about the Food Safety Auditing Scholarship while attending the 2016 the SQF International Conference.
